About

Tim Berners-Lee recently celebrated 30 years of the World Wide Web. He said “While the web has created opportunity, given marginalised groups a voice, and made our daily lives easier, it has also created opportunity for scammers, given a voice to those who spread hatred, and made all kinds of crime easier to commit. It’s understandable that many people feel afraid and unsure if the web is really a force for good. But given how much the web has changed in the past 30 years, it would be defeatist and unimaginative to assume that the web as we know it can’t be changed for the better in the next 30. If we give up on building a better web now, then the web will not have failed us. We will have failed the web”.

I agree with the above sentiments. I want my online space to be full of positivity, discussion, friendship, sharing and diversity. This is my little corner of the net and I want to make it as welcoming, safe and inclusive as it possibly can be.

A Police Car And A Screaming Siren came about after I decided that I wanted to write about my passions in the form of a blog. Unlike many other blogs that concentrate on one area or one topic, I wanted to throw all of my passions into the mix. So I may write about music, television, films, empowerment and self improvement, books, photography and my beloved Aston Villa.

It’s also important for me to reach out to other people online, make some new connections, find some common ground and make some new friends. That would be really cool is the main reason why I log on and browse the net – to hopefully make some friends and interact with others.

So I wanted a blog that steps back from the spotlight and away from centre stage. Something a bit quieter than the pack. I enjoy writing and have a passion for working class culture, pop culture, self improvement and community and thought “Why not combine these interests and start a blog?”. Furthermore, I am also interested in the idea of genuine community and togetherness. Hopefully in time, A Police Car And A Screaming Siren will feature a range of diverse writers and bloggers and become a community for creatives and readers alike.

Enjoy the blog and thanks very much for giving me your time and support
